Whistle Buoy / Superflux – Buds, Hazy IPA with Terpenes

I lucked out and was able to pick up a tallboy of Buds on the same day I saw the release announcement. Another collab from the fine folks at Whistle Buoy and Superflux. According to Whistle Buoy, Buds is a cannabis inspired IPA using BrewGas, a liquid brewing solution consisting of botanical terpene-derived cannabis flavour compounds which contain no THC or CBD.

Buds poured a slightly pale golden straw colour with copious head levels and retention. Forward on the nose were notes of pineapple and a hint of dankness. Made with Cryo Idaho 7 and Vic Secret hop varieties, on the palate, citrus notes joined the tropical fruits. The dankness moved up a bit with the addition of a hint of pine resin. The first few sips had the hop bitterness with the terpenes more predominant, but this faded a touch allowing that tropical pineapple profile to take centre stage. Mouthfeel was moderate with carbonation just a touch lighter than medium. Finish had that hint of terpenes along with the dank and tropical fruit close it all off.

Truly a well executed and complex Hazy. My tallboy was purchased at Cascadia Eagle Creek and served lightly chilled.
